The Bestiary of Autonomous Machines is a crowd-sourced research into the future of autonomous machines and their symbiotic relationship with the earth ecosystem and in particular human society.

Part of the machine beasts from the archive were created during a series of workshops in order to imagine a wide range of existing and invented autonomous machines. Events took place with children, students, young professionals and academics at various locations in the Netherlands, the US and during the Istanbul Design Biennial. The participants discussed practical and philosophical ideas in the field of autonomous machines, shared references and developed their own concepts. In the final archive, several developed concepts were selected together with references to existing machines. The digital bestiary and online archive attempts to document the human understanding, fears and dreams on machine autonomy.
