The solo exhibition Tired Town opens in a world where materials set their own tempo. Forms that once promised stability — industrial objects, church architecture, symbolic carvings — appear in states of transition. Stone becomes fragile, glass carries the memory of footsteps, clay loosens back into earth. Developed during a three-month residency at Make Eindhoven, the exhibition follows Marie Caye’s exploration of how materials hold meaning, and how symbols shift as their contexts erode. Together, the works show how materials change, and how those changes reshape the meanings we place in them.

L’exposition solo Tired Town s’ouvre dans un monde où les matériaux imposent leur propre temporalité. Des formes qui promettaient autrefois stabilité — objets industriels, architecture d’église, sculptures symboliques — apparaissent ici dans des états de transition. La pierre devient fragile, le verre porte la mémoire des pas, l’argile se défait et retourne à la terre. Développée durant une résidence de trois mois à Make Eindhoven, l’exposition poursuit la recherche de Marie Caye sur la manière dont les matériaux portent du sens et sur la façon dont les symboles se transforment lorsque leurs contextes s’érodent. Ensemble, les œuvres montrent comment les matériaux se transforment et comment ces transformations redéfinissent les significations que nous leur attribuons.

De solotentoonstelling Tired Town opent in een wereld waarin materialen hun eigen tempo bepalen. Vormen die ooit stabiliteit beloofden — industriële objecten, kerkarchitectuur, symbolische reliëfs — verschijnen hier in een staat van overgang. Steen wordt fragiel, glas draagt de herinnering aan voetstappen, klei valt langzaam terug uiteen tot aarde. De tentoonstelling werd ontwikkeld tijdens een residentie van drie maanden bij Make Eindhoven en volgt Marie Caye’s onderzoek naar hoe materialen betekenis dragen en hoe symbolen verschuiven wanneer hun contexten beginnen te eroderen. Samen tonen de werken hoe materialen veranderen en hoe deze veranderingen de betekenissen die wij eraan toekennen opnieuw vormgeven.
